Welcome to 3Blades Maker Lab

This is the first post on our blog, so it feels right to introduce ourselves.

3Blades Maker Lab is a small maker studio based in Lavon, Texas - about 30 miles northeast of Dallas. We build custom 3D printed products, and everything is made and shipped from our workspace here in the DFW metroplex.

What We Make

The shop is focused these days, and that's on purpose. Here's what's in it:

  • 3D printed drone cases - Custom-fit cases for micro FPV drones. Modular battery storage, contour-fit cradles, filament hinge, no hardware needed.
  • Laser engraving - Slate coasters, cutting boards, tumblers, and photo crystals, engraved to order.
  • Filament - Premium PETG at fair prices, local pickup in the DFW area.

The Equipment

BambuLab H2D 3D printer - Fast, reliable, and runs unattended. This handles everything from drone cases to one-off parts. PETG for durability, PLA for detail work.

Why "3Blades"?

Three blades on a propeller. If you've been around RC aircraft or drones, you know. It's a nod to where this all started - a hobby that turned into a skill set that turned into a business.

How We Work

Everything here is made to order. We don't keep shelves of pre-stamped inventory. When you place an order, we make it - usually within 3 to 5 business days.

What We're Not Doing Right Now

We've pulled back to what we can keep up with. That means no 3D scanning, no reverse engineering, no CAD or 3D model building, and no design work. We've also stopped printing files that customers send us. What you see in the shop is what we make, and we'd rather tell you that up front than leave you guessing.

What's Coming

This blog - Lab Notes - is where we share what we're working on and post guides to help you pick the right case for your build. Think of it as a look behind the curtain.
